Adoption
Fees, Forms & Process
Second
chances happen every day at the
Ozaukee
Humane Society. Through expert care and a whole
lot of love and commitment, we find homes for hundreds
of animals each year. There are no time or space
limits; adoptable animals stay in adoption until
they find new homes.
There are many animals waiting at OHS for loving
homes! Since the individual needs of each animal
and adopter vary, an Adoption Counselor will work
with you one-on-one to help you find the right match
for your home. The adoption process generally takes
an hour. We recommend that you allow ample time
to learn about your new companion.

The Ozaukee Humane Society provides valuable care and treatment for all kinds of animals in need. Last year, we found homes for hundreds of animals. Some of those animals were in need of an extraordinary amount of medical intervention. Our veterinary team works tirelessly to save dogs with life threatening conditions.
Variable adoption pricing allows us to provide top quality care for all animals. Having a higher adoption fee for some animals that will find a home quickly enables us to care for animals in need of lifesaving medical and behavioral intervention. Our variable pricing helps us to provide excellent care for animals who reside in our shelter for a longer stay.
Adoption
fees for all dogs, cats and rabbits include sterilization,
a permanent identification to help protect animals
from loss or theft called a microchip, primary vaccinations and
a certificate for a free veterinary examination. Dogs and cats receive a 30-day gift of ShelterCare
Pet Insurance.
Adoption
Process
- Each potential adopter
will complete an Adopter Profile that will be
reviewed by an adoption counselor and will stay
on file for 2 months. To fill out a dog adoption
profile online, click
here.
- A Photo ID with
current address will be requested by the adoption
counselor. If address does not match, please bring
in proof of current address (ex. Utility bill
or other bills).
- The adoption counselor
will ask questions regarding your residence, family
members living in the household and other pets
living in the home to ensure the best match is
made.
