Adoption Fees & Process

Second chances happen every day at the Ozaukee Humane Society. Through expert care and a whole lot of love and commitment, we find homes for hundreds of animals each year. There are no time or space limits; adoptable animals stay with us until they find new homes.

There are many animals waiting at OHS for loving homes! Since the individual needs of each animal and adopter vary, an Adoption Counselor will work with you one-on-one to help you find the right match for your home. The adoption process generally takes an hour. We recommend that you allow ample time to learn about your new companion.

Adoption fees for rabbits include sterilization, a permanent identification to help protect animals from loss or theft called a microchip and a certificate for a free veterinary examination.

Adoption Process

1. Each potential adopter will complete an Adopter Profile that will be reviewed by an adoption counselor and will stay on file for 2 months. To fill out an adoption profile online click on one of the following: rabbit, bird or petite pal adoption profile.
2. A Photo ID with current address will be requested by the adoption counselor. If address does not match, please bring in proof of current address (ex. Utility bill or other bills).
3. The adoption counselor will ask questions regarding your residence, family members living in the household and other pets living in the home to ensure the best match is made.
