Kids can help too!

OHS would like to give a big round of “a-paws” to two special young ladies, Zoe and Brook. These animal-loving kids recently brought in a donation to help care for the dogs, cats, and small animals at OHS. Zoe and Brook raised the money by holding a lemonade stand. Thank you!

For her 13th birthday party, McKenna asked for donations for OHS rather than presents. We received a multitude of items (dog toys, bleach, paper towels, pens, etc.) and a $100 check. Wow! Happy 13th, McKenna!

Here are some great ideas for kids to help the animals at Ozaukee Humane Society!

Hold a Help the Animals Drive
This is a great project to do on your own or with a group. Click here for our Wish List of much needed supplies. Design colorful posters and bins to attract the attention of kids in your school and people in your neighborhood to collect items for animals.

Fundraising

Helping the Ozaukee Humane Society raise money is a very important way to make sure that the animals receive all of the help they need. Check out our fundraising guide for some ideas on how to have fun while raising funds for a good cause!

•  Have a bake or lemonade sale;

•  Organize a yard sale;

•  Organize a "penny drive" at school;

•  Have a birthday party where kids bring gifts and/or money for the animals;

•  Have a movie night at your school or community center; and

•  Set up an information and fundraising table in your neighborhood or school

Spread the Word

Consider doing your next research paper, speech in class or article in your school newspaper about an animal-related topic. There are many animal welfare issues that deserve discussion such as spay/neuter, responsible animal care, humane treatment of wildlife, wildlife habitat and treating all animals with respect and kindness. There are lots of books, websites and magazines devoted to the subject. You can get information at your local library. Ask your local librarian to set up a display of animal related books and magazines so other kids can read about them as well.
