Humane Society to Present Kindness Awards
GRAFTON,
WI. – The Ozaukee Humane Society
will kick off National Be Kind to Animals (BKA)
Week (May 7-13, 2006) by hosting a BKA Awards Ceremony
May 6 at 10:30 a.m. Every year the Ozaukee Humane
Society takes this opportunity to honor people in
our community who have shown an exceptional dedication
to animal welfare. Award categories include Humane
Educator of the Year and the Kind Kid Awards. In
addition, awards for the best poster & poetry
contests will be announced.
WHAT: Be Kind to Animals Awards
Ceremony
WHEN: Saturday, May 6, 2005 10:30a.m.
WHERE: U.S.S. Liberty Memorial
Public Library
1620 11th Ave.
Grafton, WI
WHO: Children and adults from
around the Greater Milwaukee area who have shown
a great amount of compassion for animals over
the past year will be awarded. These individuals
have done everything from compassionately delivering
humane teachings to rescuing cats from a car’s
engine.
WHY: Be Kind to Animals Week
was started in 1915 by the American Humane Association.
This year Be Kind to Animals Week will be celebrated
nationally from May 7-13th. The Ozaukee Humane
Society joins other humane organizations from
around the county in recognizing the important
role that animals play in everyone’s lives.
This week is also a time to educate everyone about
the importance of treating all animals with compassion.
The
Ozaukee Humane Society BKA ceremony is specifically
designed to honor people who truly represent the
OHS mission of building a community where people
value animals and treat them with respect and kindness.
