Dumping
Animals in the Country an Act of Cruelty
GRAFTON,
Wis. – You're sitting comfortably in the
car, looking out the window and taking in all of
nature's beauty. In an instant, the car jerks to
a stop and you are let out of the car on the side
of the street. Completely stunned, you can't believe
you were just deserted and don't know what to do.
This
is exactly what happened on Wednesday to 8-month-old
Pete. Fortunately, a Good Samaritan from Herton,
Mich. was on her way to visit family in Mequon,
Wis., saw this incident and immediately pulled over
to the side of the road and scooped up the kitten
to the safety of her car. Luckily, the woman brought
Pete to the Ozaukee Humane Society for a second
chance at life.
Today,
Pete appears to be doing fine, far better than he
would have done trying to fend for himself off the
busy highway. Pete is friendly and social yet understandably
hesitant when it comes to trusting people. But given
a little time to warm up, he is a darling companion.
The
Ozaukee Humane Society believe that every animal
deserves to be treated with respect and kindness,
and is striving to build a community where this
is always the case. OHS staff is thankful to the
Good Samaritan for bringing Pete to them.
For
more information about Pete, call the Ozaukee Humane
Society at
