Animal-Friendly Housing

Many animals are surrendered to animal shelters each year because their guardians have difficulty finding rental properties for them. OHS is in the process of compiling a list that identifies apartments in the Ozaukee County area that are "Animal-Friendly." This list will be prepared by the Ozaukee Humane Societies to be used as a tool for tenants and property managers and is a free service. This list is being compiled to help responsible animal guardians to find housing. Responsible guardians take full responsibility for their animal's welfare, including their health, exercise and companionship needs. Responsible guardians must also take responsibility for their successful integration into a community living situation, by respecting the rights of other tenants and the animal policies enforced by the property managers. OHS will not make specific recommendations for any properties listed. The purpose of this list is to promote housing for cats and dogs, but "caged animals" will be included on the list when the information is volunteered.
